    The challenge

The customers wanted solar on a slate-roofed detached home in Wolfsdale where surface-mounted panels would have looked visually intrusive. They also wanted the system to cover their evening cooking and heating loads, not just daytime — meaning a battery was essential. Past quotes from other installers had over-promised yields and used standard rail-mounted kits that the customer felt didn't suit the property's traditional appearance.

    The solution

We specified a 13-panel Aiko Neostar 460 W array (5.98 kWp total) using Solfit in-roof trays for a flush, water-tight finish that integrates with the slate. A Fox ESS H1-AC inverter and EP5 5 kWh battery completed the system, configured for daytime self-consumption priority with overnight Octopus Go cheap-rate top-up. Roof preparation and panel install was completed in two days; commissioning, MCS sign-off and Fox ESS portal handover on day three.

Outstanding service from Renewable Future Wales. We recently had in-roof solar panels and a Fox ESS battery system installed and we couldn't be more impressed. From start to finish, Simon, Tom and the team were absolutely fantastic. Their expert knowledge and professionalism were evident from the first consultation — every question was answered clearly, and their advice was spot-on. The installation itself was completed on time and on budget, exactly as promised. The team worked efficiently, were clean, tidy and incredibly respectful of our home throughout the process. The finished system looks superb and we're already seeing the benefits.
