Rudbaxton, Pembrokeshire — Holiday Let Solar, Battery & Easee EV Charger
A solar PV and battery system installed on a Pembrokeshire holiday let with high evening loads from a hot tub and existing air source heat pump. An Easee 7 kW EV charger was added mid-install. MCS attended the commissioning and praised the workmanship. This was the first project completed under the Renewable Future Wales banner.

The challenge
A working holiday let with a hot tub and an existing air source heat pump was facing high running costs — guest evening usage patterns meant most demand fell outside daylight hours. The owners wanted to cut costs without disrupting bookings, plus the flexibility to add EV charging for guests. The challenge was integrating the new solar + battery cleanly with the existing ASHP system and electrical board.
The solution
We installed a 5 kWp solar array on the south-facing main roof, paired with a 5 kWh Fox ESS battery storage system configured to prioritise evening self-consumption. The customer added an Easee 7 kW EV charger late in the project — we sorted it without changing schedule. MCS attended commissioning and signed off the install with no defects. Roofing was led by Dave and Rudi; electrical work by Harley with apprentice Kieran on board. Project lead: Tom.

We had Solar PV and Battery Storage installed at our holiday let by the team at Renewable Future Wales — and honestly, we couldn't be happier with the whole experience. Tom led the install and really knows his stuff when it comes to solar. He was quick to respond to any questions and kept us in the loop from start to finish. This was their very first job under the RFW banner and it was even assessed by MCS, who had nothing but praise for the quality of the work. We also decided last-minute to add an Easee EV charger and the team sorted it with no fuss at all. Thanks to the system, we're already seeing big savings on our running costs, especially with the hot tub and ASHP on site.
